Faculty Teaching Units (Chairs)

Teaching units (chairs) are organizational units comprising the professors and teaching assistants giving instruction in a number of closely related academic subjects. The main objectives of the teaching units are to organize and promote educational and scientific research within the subject-specific areas of law, foster the professional development and advancement of academic and research staff, and cherish the popularization of the legal science.

To accomplish these objectives, each teaching unit (chair) is eligible to perform the following activities: decide on the issues related to the educational and scientific research activities in the subject-specific area; organize the teaching process at different levels of study; decide on the doctoral dissertation topics within its area of competency; propose curricula and syllabi for undergraduate and post-graduate study programs, as well as the programs for the innovation of knowledge and professional training/development; propose compulsory literature and supplementary study materials; monitor the members’ educational and scientific research activities and write reports on their work for professional advancement purposes; organize intra/inter-unit professional and scientific meetings; establish and develop cooperation with related academic units (departments or chairs) at other law faculties in the country and abroad; and perform other duties and activities prescribed in the Faculty Statute.
